Is Your Donation Supporting Our Local Mission?
Local affiliates receive a great deal of organization support, name recognition, and services from Habitat for Humanity International. However, local affiliates do not receive funding directly the international organization, All Habitat affiliates are self-supporting and must raise funds locally to build and repair homes in partnership with family in need in your community. Each local affiliate coordinates all aspects of Habitat home building in its local area — from fundraising, site selection and construction to family services, house construction, and mortgage servicing. Habitat affiliates also tithe a percentage of their local contribution to fund house-building work around the world. Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County’s donations have built 127 homes in Malawi, Africa!
Donations, whether sent to our local Habitat affiliate or to Habitat for Humanity for Humanity International, are used as designated by the donor. Gifts received by Habitat for Humanity International that are designated to a specific ‘local’ affiliate or building project are forwarded to that affiliate. Habitat International retains a “servicing fee” to transfer the funds our local affiliate. Undesignated gifts are used where most needed and for administrative expenses.

- You will see a confirmation box “Gift designated to: Ventura County, HFH of – Oxnard, California. If you do not see this confirmation, your donation will go into the general fund for Habitat for Humanity International.

y designating Habitat Ventura County as the recipient of the proceeds, you can help build homes in Ventura County.
Why should I donate my vehicle to Cars for Homes?
- 100% of the net proceeds of the sale will be distributed to your local Habitat for Humanity affiliate.
- Our local Habitat affiliate will use these funds to help build decent, affordable homes with families in our community, helping to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.

Gifts of Land or Building Materials
If you own land you wish to sell or know of land parcels that might be available, please call us at (805) 485-6065, x201. Habitat welcomes donations of in-kind materials to offset the cost of construction.
Home Sponsorship Opportunities & Benefits
When you partner with Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County your community involvement dollars will truly make a difference. Exciting sponsorship opportunities – large and small – exist for every donor. Some companies take a lead role in building a home; others get involved by sponsoring a home repair project or special event.
Home Builder | $190,000 | Various organizations sponsor Habitat homes by providing a combination of direct funding, in-kind donations of materials and services, and volunteer labor. House sponsors include corporations, large and small businesses, faith-based groups, membership associations, and foundations. Several sponsors may choose to combine resources to fund one home.
Preserve a Home | $5,000 – $25,000 | Preserve a Home is designed to help transform neighborhoods using a holistic approach – joining groups of caring and dedicated volunteers to assist homeowners in completing needed repairs. Sponsorship levels include A Brush with Kindness (exterior only), Minor Repairs, and Major/Critical Repairs.
Special Events | $250 – $5,000 | There are many event sponsorships that afford your organization an opportunity to have your members involved and support Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County. Fundraising events include our annual Community Breakfast, Ventura Half Marathon & 5K, ReStore Grand Opening, and Cocktails in Havana.
Habitat Mission |$500 – $5,000 | To help keep our overhead costs low, we accept underwriting sponsorship for printing, campaign mailings, and special projects.
Donate to the Habitat ReStore
Donate new or gently used furniture, home improvement items, and building materials to our ReStore. All proceeds go directly to Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County to help build new homes for families in need.
Planned Gifts
If you would like to learn more about planned giving (bequests, stock donations, etc.), please call our Habitat office at (805) 485-6065. You can leave Habitat a gift in your will, name Habitat as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy, charitable trust or annuity. Please call 805-485-6065, x201.
