SUPPORT TEAMS

For every volunteer hour spent at a construction site, 15 volunteer hours are spent behind the scenes, making this new home possible. Volunteer committees assist in designing homes, selecting families, soliciting donations, organizing special events, coordinating public and media relations, and helping in the office. No matter what your particular skills, Habitat can use your help!

Faith Relations
    Develop long-term partnerships with religious congregations to initiate or increase donations and volunteers, leading to house sponsorships.

Public Relations
    This committee is responsible for the production of our quarterly newsletter, radio and TV public announcements, press releases, news articles and materials for fundraising campaigns. They also maintain our website, update our Volunteer Handbook; and advertise and promote special events and our annual homeowner application workshop. Professional writers, photographers, and media communications specialists are ideal for this committee.

Family Selection
    This committee is responsible for promoting, planning and carrying out our annual homeowner application workshop, screening all applications for financial qualifications, conducting home visits and interviews with financially qualified families, and selecting partner families. We are recruiting individuals with social work experience, finance and mortgage-lending professionals.

Family Support
    The Family Partner Subcommittee works with future and prospective homeowners to provide a mutual support system and a forum for discussions pertaining to home ownership and maintenance. Family Partner works to ensure Habitat families are successful homeowners and have a positive relationship with Habitat of Ventura County.

Site Hosts Site Acquisition
    Site Acquisition team prepares for future Habitat projects through assessment of community needs; building relationships with private and public organizations; evaluating, recommending and procuring property; and preparing land for construction by obtaining the necessary permits and plans.

Lunch Crew ReStore Advisory
    Work with the ReStore staff to identify avenues to better promote the store to contractors and the community. Assist to develop better relationships with retail facilities in the area to increase donation of new items.

Special Events
    Provide knowledge and expertise to plan and execute special events, such as the 25th Anniversary of Habit for Humanity of Ventura County, The home and Garden Show and one time events.
