Site Acquisition Team Description
Primary Function:
Identify, research and report on properties that are suitable and might be available as a donation or at a below market price for Habitat houses.
Commitment:
Approximately 8 hours per month for 1 year.
Responsibilities:
Attend Site Acquisition Team meetings.
Actively search for available land.
Research ownership, liens, easements, zoning regulations, restrictions, suitability of properties (flood plain/wetland, topography, buried toxic waste, etc.).
Follow up on leads provided by committees and volunteers.
Report findings to committee.
Network in day-to-day life to promote and accomplish Habitat's mission.
Attend relevant workshops or training sessions approved by Executive Director.
Qualifications and Skills:
Familiarity with county land and tax records, zoning requirements, county engineers helpful.
Realtors or property developers ideal.
Research skills.
Sound knowledge of and dedication to the goals and mission of Habitat for Humanity.
Community and local government connections helpful.
