Public Relations Team Description
Writer Description

Primary Function:
Write promotional copy for newsletters, brochures, and various forms of publicity.

Commitment:
Approximately 10 hours per month for 1 year.

Responsibilities:
  • Attend Public Relations Committee meetings.
  • In conjunction with overall plan developed by Director of Development and Communications, write quarterly newsletter, annual report, copy for ads and posters, and materials for presentations and trainings.
  • Collaborate with all committees.
  • Interview homeowners, volunteers and donors to cull stories and quotations.
  • Other duties as assigned by committee chair.
  • Attend relevant workshops or training sessions approved by Executive Director.

    Qualifications and Skills:
  • Experience with marketing writing.
  • Excellent grammar, punctuation and spelling.
  • Good communication and interviewing skills.
  • Flexible schedule.
  • Detail-oriented personality.
  • Team player; be willing to hear and consider other people's ideas.
  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
  • Dedication to the goals and mission of Habitat for Humanity
