Volunteer Spotlight – Sandy Burris, Family Selection Chair

Since 2008, Sandy Burris has successfully led a group of volunteers responsible for assessing and determining if families are qualified to become partner families with Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County!

  • Our heartfelt thanks to Sandy for her extraordinary service and commitment to the mission and work of Habitat for Humanity of Ventura County. Sandy and her group of caring and passionate volunteers dedicate their time and efforts to helping us select qualified partner families.
    • Long before construction begins, Sandy’s team conducts community workshops, reviews applications, and conducts home visit. Once the review process is completed, her team makes a recommendation to the Habitat Board of Directors for final approval.
  • Sandy is truly making a difference in the lives of many families across Ventura County, giving back to the community through her volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, and as a kindergarten teacher at Sierra Linda Elementary in Oxnard! Sandy also loves Polynesian dance, and for more than 20 years, has been performing and teaching the dances of Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand, Samoa and the Cook Islands.
